I was very shocked after learning that the journalism program at my school had been cut. About two years ago, Fife High School's journalism program was on the verge of being cut because their was a huge controversy between the former principal and the former journalism teacher.
However, this was not the reason why the journalism program was cut this year. It was because we were not financially stable enough to have journalism as a class. Of course, we can still form a club but I can already see a mountain of problems forming.
I have also noticed that other schools, including my school, have been cutting back on their spending this year. For example, we used to have poster boards available to everyone to use for projects but now we don't. Is Washington State not giving enough funds to public schools? As election day approaches rapidly, you might want to think about that.
